Una narrativa visual tipográfica en homenaje a mujeres referentes del diseño tipográfico, realizada en Tipografia III de la Licenciatura en Diseño Visual (Universidad Nacional de Rio Negro), en conjunto con Jazmín Schmidt. Proyecto posible gracias a la tutoría de grandes profesionales como Laura Vázquez y Cristian Luengo. Este homenaje a la importante carrera de Gudrun Zapf von Hesse fue inspirada por sus tipografías y su estilo de composición tipográfica única.

GUDRUN ZAPF von HESSE (Alemania, 1918 – 2019) fue una encuadernadora, calígrafa y diseñadora de tipografías que abrió su propio camino en los asuntos tipográficos, considerados parte de «un mundo de hombres».
Comenzó su carrera en 1941, obteniendo una maestría en encuadernación luego de tres años. Decidida por encontrar las letras perfectas para sus libros, incursionó de manera autodidacta a la caligrafía, recurso que posteriormente la llevaría al mundo tipográfico.
Eran épocas difíciles: no estaba bien visto que una mujer se posicionara en estas actividades. Pero con su excelencia tipográfica, fina sensibilidad y gran determinación, von Hesse decidió hacer caso omiso a los prejuicios sociales. De esta manera, entre punzones y metales, surge Hesse Antiqua, la primera tipografía de Gudrun Zapf von Hesse.

A typographic visual narrative in tribute to women referents of typographic design, made in Typography III of the Degree of Visual Design (National University of Rio Negro), in conjunction with Jazmín Schmidt. This project was possible thanks to the mentorship of great professionals such as Laura Vázquez and Cristian Luengo. This tribute to the important career of Gudrun Zapf von Hesse was inspired by her typefaces and unique typecomposition style.

GUDRUN ZAPF von HESSE (Germany, 1918 – 2019) was a bookbinder, calligrapher and typeface designer who blazed her own trail in typographic matters, considered part of "a man's world".
She began her career in 1941, earning a master's degree in bookbinding after three years. Determined to find the perfect letters for her books, she self-taught herself in calligraphy, a resource that would later lead her to the world of typography.
Those were difficult times: it was not well seen for a woman to position herself in these activities. But with his typographic excellence, fine sensibility and great determination, von Hesse decided to ignore social prejudices. In this way, between punches and metals, Hesse Antiqua emerged, the first typeface by Gudrun Zapf von Hesse.

Una tipografía para ediciones especiales y diplomas. Diotima es considerada una de las tipografías más hermosas jamás fundidas en metal diseñada por Zapf Von Hesse. Romántica y delicada, utilizada para escribir poemas y cartas, incluyendo las invitaciones de su boda con el tipógrafo Hermann Zapf, en 1951. Esta tipografía ha recibido el nombre de Diotima debido a una sacerdotisa griega en el diálogo de Platón sobre el amor platónico.
Luego de Diotima, Zapf Von Hesse ha diseñado alrededor de nueve tipos de letra para tecnologías de composición tipográfica digital, fotográfica y metálica para diferentes fundiciones tipográficas.

A typeface for special editions and diplomas. Diotima is considered one of the most beautiful typefaces ever cast in metal designed by Zapf Von Hesse. Romantic and delicate, used to write poems and letters, including invitations to her own wedding with typographer Hermann Zapf in 1951. This typeface has been named Diotima after a Greek priestess in Plato's dialogue on platonic love.
After Diotima, Zapf Von Hesse has designed around nine typefaces for digital, photographic and metallic typesetting technologies for different type foundries.
